Drop-In Access Center
News from the Tuesday Drop-In Access Center at UUCSC
Things are going well with the Tuesday Morning Drop-In Program. We consistently serve 40+ guests each week from 8:30-11:30am.
Church volunteers provide our unhoused guests with breakfast (oatmeal and cereal), a hot meal, and a sack lunch for later. We also have coffee, hot water for tea, iced water, and Gatorade available throughout the morning. A shower truck is available for hot showers. Our clothing closet assists our guests with donated clothing and hygiene supplies they may need. NHHA offers resources for social services for our guests. On warm days our guests relax under the shade of our tree and chat with each other. On cold or rainy days we open our Fellowship Hall and invite folks inside. We always have a security guard on premises throughout the program hours.
If you would like to assist with the program, here is what we can use:
Clothing items that are clean and gently used.
Men’s underwear—all sizes—preferably cotton boxer briefs.
Desserts for up to 50 lunches—cookies, bars, finger-type. Please let us know so we can include your donation in the menu plan.
Coffee mugs (we don’t use paper or Styrofoam cups). Please, no large mugs—cups like we use on Sunday at church are perfect.
Metal dinner forks—we no longer use disposable plastic utensils and could use more forks.
