The Bible in Its Own Words
LUKE and ACTS
6 sessions, Led by Rev. Hoyt-McDaniels
On Wednesday evenings beginning March 5 at 7pm, Rev. Hoyt-McDaniels will lead a class reading and discussing two important books of the Christian scriptures: The Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. The class will conclude on April 16.
The Gospel of Luke tells the story of Jesus' birth, life, and death. In Acts, the same author continues with the story of the apostles organizing the Christian church after Jesus' death. The group will read aloud to each other pausing to discuss what the text may have meant to the author and the original audience and what it has to say to us today.
Luke and Acts contain many of Christianity's favorite stories: The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, the conversion of St. Paul. Bring a Bible if you have one, a literal (not paraphrase) contemporary (not King James) translation is best. If you can’t attend all six sessions, join us as your schedule permits.
