Our Service
The quest for truth is its sacrament,
And service is its prayer.
Spoken at each worship service, these Words of Covenant affirm our responsibility to live lives of justice while seeking knowledge and helping those in need.
Our Sunday morning service is characterized by the full involvement of our diverse community. From the bell that opens our service to the social time afterward, the focus is our people and their shared life and commitments in this religious community. The music is as richly diverse as our community; joyous and contemplative, traditional and contemporary, vocal and instrumental, local and cross-cultural.
At the beginning of each service we light a flame in a chalice. The chalice, as the symbol of our faith, brings us together in worship and symbolizes the spirit of our community and actions. We sing our children in to share a time with us and sing them out. Our offering includes food and clothing for the less fortunate as well as the shared riches that sustain us.
No one is left out as we share joys and concerns, the wisdom of our heritage of radical religious freedom and our commitment to the spiritual values of our liberal tradition. Drawing from the best of the religious history of the species, we strive to keep one another alive and growing as we celebrate the life we share together.
We will inspire you and challenge you. We will invite you to share in our ministry to one another and to the larger community.
