What to Expect
During our worship services we center ourselves around a liturgy that fosters spiritual enrichment. The format is similar to that of traditional Protestant services, with content reflecting the religious values of Unitarian Universalism. We focus upon these shared values by speaking words that embody those principles, singing hymns that bring us together in song, and listening to music that lifts our spirits. We join in celebrating and nurturing our children, and exercise our generosity by donating food and clothing to those in need. We light candles representing our joys and concerns, and a sermon is given by either our minister, a guest speaker, or a lay person. The service lasts about one hour and is followed by a social hour of fellowship, conversation, and refreshments.
Newcomers will find our services cordial and relaxed. We invite you to come dressed as you are comfortable.

Opportunities for Newcomers
Introduction to Unitarian Universalism
This single-session introduction to our church and our religious tradition is held once a month following the social hour. We talk about our own religious journeys, UU history and the guiding principles of our faith, as well as our congregational life.
This informal meeting is intended especially for newcomers, although longtime members and friends who would like a better understanding of our history and identity are also welcome. We invite your questions and participation!
Lunch at Mazzarino's
A group of us gather once a month at this Italian restaurant in Sherman Oaks for fellowship and conversation outside of the church context. Newcomers are especially welcome, and it is a great chance to make new friends and enjoy delicious food.
» See the Community page for more opportunities to engage in our congregational life.
