Overview: Project Grants
Current Applications
What are Special Projects Grants?
The church budget for 2011-2012 contains a line item for Special Projects.
- $5400 comes out of the distributions from our Endowment Fund
- Special Projects Grants will be given to groups that have a commitment to a project that will advance the church’s mission and vision.
- These are one time only grants to get a project off the ground.
How much money is available for Special Projects Grants and how is it awarded?
$5400 from the Endowment Fund
- awarded twice a year in November 2011 and March 2012.
- $2700 awarded for each cycle (maximum amount allowed = $1350 per project)
- must be something new (not funded by the budget in the past) that will move the church toward our vision and mission.
- awarded through congregation voting process following a written application.
How will the church be involved in the projects?
- People in the church can participate in any projects that sound interesting to them. Project leaders will keep everyone informed on how to get involved.
- Each project will provide updates to the congregation on the progress toward their desired outcomes.
- The Program Council will help groups to implement their projects. Each project will have a Program Council liaison to help them keep on track and get any support they need.
Awarding Grants
- Applications that meet basic requirements will be asked to provide a short synopsis of their project to use for congregational voting.
- These projects will be submitted to the congregation to vote on.
- The Program Council will review the voting and award the grants to the projects with the highest votes. The Council may work with groups to slightly alter their requests to get the most projects funded for the money available.
- Each project that is awarded a grant will have an assigned liaison and mentors on the Program Council who will work with projects to support them to stay on track.
